In view of Trump's threats against competition to "replace" the Dollar, presumably BRICS nations will respond with either a) a trade (only) unit (not a currency) or b) trade in local currency with a reconciliation against a formula at the end of a "trade period"?

Thanks for the note!

Right! BRICS is yet to respond, and they are trading from strength (big growing numbers). Competing currencies are in the air, and although Trump may be operating from strength right now, it's hard to imagine him slowing down the emerging currency "wars". I think there is a much better chance Team Trump comes up with a competing currency of their own -- like a USD stable coin or gold-backed notes. Everything is on the table, and let's not be surprised if they are the ones responsible for the chaos in the gold show (BOE shipment delays).
